‘Falcon And The Winter Soldier’: Series Will Reveal IF There’s A New Captain America

If there’s a question fans hope to see answered by Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s who will ultimately become the next Captain America? While Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson seems like the obvious choice, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes has a claim on it, as well. What we do know is that it isn’t settled when the series begins, and the arrival of Wyatt Russell as John “USAgent” Walker complicates matters.

In an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Mackie does assure fans of an answer by the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

“At the the end of Endgame, Sam didn’t accept the shield,” Mackie said. “If you remember, he told Steve, ‘It doesn’t feel right because this shield is yours.’ So, you know, the show is a long way of figuring around who’s gonna be Captain America. Where the shield’s gonna end up and if Captain America, if that moniker is gonna come back and somebody’s gonna hold that moniker again.”

There are a couple of big “ifs” in there. It’s entirely possible that nobody will ever be Captain America again. Or that we’ll only see the character in flashback or if Chris Evans returns to the role.

Something tells me Sam will end up as Captain America but it won’t be now. It will come much later, when we least expect it, on the big screen. My guess is after this series is over, Sam will go away for a while and come back with another “on your left” moment, only he’ll be carrying the shield of Captain America.
