2021 Indie Spirits Led By ‘Never Rarely Sometimes Always’ With Seven Nominations

The 2021 Indie Spirit Awards were very good to Eliza Hittman’s abortion drama Never Rarely Sometimes Always. The indie film from Focus Features earned seven Spirit Award nominations including Best Feature, Best Female Lead for Sidney Flanagan, and Best Director for Hittman.

Following closely behind was Minari with six nominations, Nomadland and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with five, and Miss Juneteenth which came away with four. Promising Young Woman took three, but surprisingly failed to make the cut for Best Feature.

The Indie Spirit Award winners will be announced on Thursday, April 22nd, and will be broadcast on IFC. Full list of nominees is below.
