Neill Blomkamp Shot A Secret Supernatural Horror Coming Next Year

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen any new features from Neill Blomkamp, but he’s sure been trying to change that. Chappie opened five years ago, and since then Blomkamp has dabbled with an Alien sequel that never happened, followed by a Robocop sequel that he’s no longer a part of, while making short films for his production label. The last we heard, he was eyeing a project titled Inferno that would star Taylor Kitsch, but that has been upended by you know what. And yet, COVID-19 didn’t shut Blomkamp down entirely.

Deadline reports Blomkamp is finishing up a secret supernatural horror that he shot in Canada during the pandemic. Filmed in the woods with a mostly-Canadian cast and by following strict safety protocols, this is apparently a project Blomkamp has been wanting to do for a long time. No details on it just yet, but the sci-fi elements he loves are said to be very much a part of it.

Assuming the project finishes in early 2021 as expected, we could have a new Blomkamp film to look forward to. All the more reason for this horrible year to go ahead and turn the page already.
