Sarah Shahi Joins Dwayne Johnson In ‘Black Adam’

Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming Black Adam film may have been pulled from the Warner Bros. slate after some extensive reshuffling, but that hasn’t stopped casting of a pretty significant role. Deadline reports Sarah Shahi has joined the cast, which includes Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.

What’s unclear is who Shahi will be playing, although there’s enough detail in the report to form a pretty good guess. The character is described as “a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq”, which sounds a lot like Isis. She is basically the counterpart to Black Adam, and carries the power of the Egyptian goddess with her. Her association with the Shazam/Marvel family runs pretty deep, but she also has more than a few confrontations with Wonder Woman.

Shahi isn’t a huge name, and she is probably best-known for her stint on Showtime’s The L Word. She previously worked alongside Hodge in the series City On a Hill, and perhaps that association played in her favor here.

With so much movement in the DCEU, it’s looking as if Black Adam will arrive in late 2022 following The Batman.
