Jonathan Entwistle To Direct New ‘Power Rangers’ Reboot As Part Of Film/TV Franchise

Ahhh, remember when they were talking about doing six movies as part of 2017’s Power Rangers reboot? Well, despite decent reviews the film didn’t do well at the box office, and that led to a whole chain of events that saw Hasbro take over the rights with plans for an all-new relaunch, and that is going into effect right now with a director who will oversee an entire franchise.

THR reports Jonathan Entwistle will direct a new Power Rangers film that will be the launch of a franchise to include various TV shows. Entwhistle, who has been attached to a reboot before, is probably best known for his Netflix shows The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay With Thisthe latter having to do with a teen who begins to develop super-powers. His experience on that series should prove valuable when tackling Power Rangers, which is about teens who gain the ability to “morph” into super-warriors taking on monsters and invading aliens.

Entwhistle had this to say in a statement…

“This is an unbelievable opportunity to deliver new ‘Power Rangers’ to both new and existing generations of awaiting and adoring fans. We’ll bring the spirit of analog into the future, harnessing the action and storytelling that made this brand a success.”
