‘Colin In Black & White’: Dead Ringer Jaden Michael Is Colin Kaepernick In Ava DuVernay’s Series

The NFL’s most controversial non-playing QB Colin Kaepernick will be the subject of Ava DuVernay’s series Colin in Black & White, as we learned over the summer. Today comes word on who will play the superstar athlete/activist, and Netflix didn’t have to go far to find him.

Netflix announced today that young actor Jaden Michael will play Kaepernick in DuVernay’s six-episode series, Colin in Black & White. Michael is a dead-ringer for Kaepernick so props to whoever noticed the resemblance and inked this deal. He’s a familiar face for Netflix, having starred in Lorne Michaels comedy Vampires vs. the Bronx, and Baz Luhrmann series The Get Down.

Colin in Black & White “will provide an introspective look at Kaepernick’s adolescent years as a Black teen growing up with a white adopted family” and provide context into “his journey to become a great quarterback.” Michael Starrbury (The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete) will write each episode and exec-produce, with Kaepernick providing key narration of his own life.

Kap definitely approves.

SYNOPSIS: Jaden Michael will star as a young Colin Kaepernick during his formative high school years in Colin in Black & White. Michael’s past credits include Todd Haynes’ drama Wonderstruck, Baz Lurhmann’s critically acclaimed, The Get Down, and the indie feature, Custody alongside Viola Davis and Ellen Burstyn. Most recently, Michael starred in the lead role in Lorne Michaels’ comedy, Vampires vs. The Bronx.
