An All-Female ‘Avengers’ Movie? Letitia Wright Says “It’s Only A Matter Of Time”

Long before the ladies of Marvel had that shoe-horned cool moment in Avengers: Endgame, fans have been eager for a movie that brings them all together. Kevin Feige has championed, and then cooled on the idea a few times, but the buzz for it to finally happen has only increased, with the MCU’s biggest names making it clear their interest. According to Black Panther star Letitia Wright, it’s not a matter of if a female teamup movie will happen, it’s just a matter of when.

“I don’t think we have to fight for it,” Wright revealed to Yahoo. “Victoria Alonso [Marvel VP] is very strong about spearheading it, alongside Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios President]. It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”

Assuming Wright is correct, she will likely have a very big role to play in it. As T’Challa’s genius sister Shuri, Wright was a breakout star of Black Panther and one of the most popular characters in the MCU. With Chadwick Boseman’s unfortunate death, it is also very likely her role will increase dramatically.

“It was always a dream of mine to play someone that can be impactful not only for Black women but also just for women around the world and young people, too,” said Wright. “To be able to have a combination of people and audience members who are so thrilled and appreciative of Shuri is a good feeling. I feel like I contributed something positive in the world.”

As for now, we don’t have an idea of when an all-female Avengers movie could happen. Marvel has a lot of projects coming up, most delayed because of COVID-19, and that includes Black Panther 2 which has pretty much gone back to the drawing board.
