‘The Flash’ Movie “Restarts Everything” In The DCEU

The second day of DC Fandome took place yesterday, and while it didn’t have the huge announcements as a couple of weeks ago, there were still some things to chew on when it comes to the DCEU. The Flash is one film that has struggled to get moving, but all along it has been pegged as extremely important, possibly reshaping the entire cinematic universe. Based on the words of producer Barbara Muschietti, that is more likely than ever.

All along we’ve known The Flash will be based on the comics storyline “Flashpoint”, which totally rebooted DC Comics at the time. While Muschietti wouldn’t go into specifics, she does admit The Flash will restart the DCEU as we know it…

“Well, I want you to go see it, so I’m not going to tell you a lot. But what I will tell you is that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.”

Initially, the rumors were The Flash would be used to alter the timeline enough to allow an exit for Ben Affleck’s version of Batman. With Affleck now confirmed to be showing up, that possibility still exists. We’ll also see Michael Keaton’s Batman, which also opens up some intriguing options. How many Dark Knights will we see? And does that mean alternate versions of his Rogue’s Gallery, too?

I’d kill for a cameo of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze.

The Flash is scheduled to open on June 2nd 2022.
