‘Synchronic’ Trailer: Anthony Mackie Trips On A Reality-Warping Drug

Directing duo Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson have won themselves quite a fanbase with their two genre-bending films, 2014’s Spring, and 2017’s The Endless. Their latest film, Synchronic, appears to be another winner as the TIFF standout sends Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan on a reality-warping head trip.

Mackie and Dornan play New Orleans paramedics who are called to the scenes of multiple bizarre, gruesome killings. They discover a link to a psychedelic new party drug that seems capable of altering the fabric of reality itself. The film co-stars Katie Aselton and Ally Ioannides.

Synchronic will hit theaters and drive-ins on October 23rd, courtesy of Well Go USA. What’s funny is that Moorhead and Benson recently suggested that people who want to see their film avoid indoor theaters and safely attend a drive-in, instead. I’m not sure how that went over with the distributor, but probably not well since drive-ins are considerably less available than theaters, even right now. That said, it’s good to see filmmakers who see the big picture and give a shit about keeping the audience safe.
