Sony Pulls Phil Lord And Chris Miller’s ‘Connected’ Off The Schedule

We thought the releases of Tenet and Mulan would be the thing to stabilize a mercurial marketplace, proving that it was okay for audiences to return to theaters. Instead, Tenet has been a domestic dud, Mulan is killing it on Disney+, and studios are still scrambling to delay their upcoming titles. Next up for a move is Sony’s animated film Connected, which is now off the schedule.

Connected, a film notable for being produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has vacated its October 23rd date and has yet to gain a new one, although Deadline says it will be later this year. There seems to be some mixed thinking when it comes to family movies at this point. While Disney sent Mulan to streaming, they’re also reportedly eyeing the same for Pixar’s Soul. At the same time, Universal is being quite bullish on the situation, moving The Croods sequel from Christmas to Thanksgiving.

Directed by Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe, Connected centers on a family driving together to take their daughter to the college of her dreams, only to have those plans interrupted by a tech uprising. The voice cast includes Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Eric Andre, Olivia Colman, and Blake Griffin.
