Sex Games Go Terribly Wrong In Trailer For Stephen King's 'Gerald's Game'

How much Stephen King is too much? Is there such a thing? If so it's being put to the test this year with IT, The Dark Tower, the TV series adaptation of Mr. Mercedes, and still there's one more. One of King's lesser-known stories, the claustrophobic thriller Gerald's Game, is headed to theaters soon and a tightly-wound trailer is now here.

Directed by Mike Flanagan, who impressed with Oculus a couple of years ago, and starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood, the film follows on a couple's sex game that goes terribly wrong. Here's the synopsis:

When a harmless sex game between a married couple in a remote retreat suddenly becomes a harrowing fight for survival, wife Jessie must confront long-buried demons within her own mind – and possibly lurking in the shadows of her seemingly empty house. Among those she confronts are ghosts from her past and a rabid dog.

Flanagan's one of the best thriller directors around, despite his Before I Wake looking like a lost cause. He has a skill for ratcheting up tension and since King's novel is already pretty intense this should be a perfect combination.  Gerald's Game hits Netflix on September 29th.
