Rian Johnson Reveals Who "The Last Jedi" Refers To

Of the many mysteries we hope will be solved in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the first and most glaring one is right there in the title. Who the heck is "the last Jedi" anyway? There have been various theories out there; (Remember when we thought "Jedi" was plural?) but Rian Johnson is going to put them all to rest and just tell us. Obviously, there's a SPOILER coming...

Speaking with the New York Times, Johnson just came right out and revealed who the last Jedi is, and honestly I don't think it's that big of a deal.

"It’s in the opening crawl of The Force Awakens. Luke Skywalker, right now, is the last Jedi… And he’s removed himself and is alone on the island, for reasons unknown."

The caveat "right now" is the key point, right? The likelihood of Rey (Daisy Ridley) becoming a Jedi at some point is high, and I think there's a pretty good chance one or two more emerge. Kylo Ren, maybe?

We'll find out when Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15th.
