Rami Malek Rocks Out As Freddie Mercury In First 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Photo

Sacha Baron Cohen spent so long waffling on his decision to play Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, which he ultimately passed on, that you'd be forgiven for not caring about Bohemian Rhapsody anymore. But there has been quite a bit of buzz ever since Mr. Robot's Rami Malek slipped into the role some months ago, and now we're starting to see why because he more than looks the part in this first image provided by EW.

Malek rocks out as Mercury in this shot recreating his performance at Live Aid in 1985.  The show would be a career landmark for Mercury, and came six years before he died of AIDS complications.  Malek will be lending his vocals to the soundtrack, although as much of Mercury's voice will be used as possible.

Directed by Bryan Singer, Bohemian Rhapsody opens Christmas Day 2018.
