Joseph Gordon-Levitt Has A Role In 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Rian Johnson's breakout feature, the awesome high school film noir Brick not only showed his prowess as a director, it was a jolt to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's acting career. They've since collaborated on every one of Johnson's films. Gordon-Levitt had a very brief cameo in The Brothers Bloom (A personal favorite I saw five times in theaters) and of course starred in Looper, so it's no surprise to learn he'll also have a role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Johnson is out in Japan doing some early press for Star Wars (there's a little more news on that, too), and while answering questions he revealed that Gordon-Levitt will have a voice role as one of the many CGI aliens...

“You know what I can tell you is that my – and we haven’t said this yet, but I think this is OK to say – is that my very good friend, the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was in a movie I made called Looper, he does a cameo as a voice of an alien in the film. It’s a very brief little thing, but it’s fun, and if you watch the movie, maybe you’ll be able to hear and pick out Joe’s voice in the movie. That’s the first time I’m revealing that.”

Despite reports of Kathleen Kennedy firing directors left and right, it really does seem like they're having some fun with these movies. Daniel Craig had his famous cameo in 'The Force Awakens', and rumors are that Prince Harry and Prince William, Tom Hardy, and possibly more are popping up in this one as Stormtroopers, too. As for Gordon-Levitt, we don't have any idea which alien he'll be, so keep your ears open!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15th.
