'IT' Director Andy Muschietti Eyed For Vampire Prequel, 'Dracul'

Ever since his breakthrough horror film, Mama, Andy Muschietti has been sought after for any number of high-profile projects. But it will be his work on this Stephen King's IT that will catapult him to superstar level, and with the film already eyeing a big debut weekend Muschietti's name has surfaced for a different big screen horror. One of the originals, actually.

Paramount is developing Dracul, a Dracula prequel and the first ever fully authorized by the Bram Stoker estate. Muschietti could be in line to direct the film if everything falls into place, although it doesn't sound like he's on board just yet. Bram Stoker's great-grand nephew Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker wrote the story, " set in 1868, where a 21-year old Bram Stoker meets with an ungodly evil that he traps in an ancient tower all the while scribbling the events that led him there."

So definitely this won't be another Dracula Untold, and if Muschietti is behind it expect the creepiness factor to be through the roof. [Deadline]
