'Gods Of Egypt' Star Brenton Thwaites Is Dick Grayson In Live-Action 'Titans' Series

Maaaaaan, I haven't said much about the Titans live-action TV series coming to DC's streaming network next year, because I don't really follow series casting news. But when a move this bad happens, and it involves one of the great DC Comics characters, it at least deserves a mention.

The role of Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing has been cast, and the gig is going to Brenton Thwaites, the stiff as a plank actor last seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He was also pretty atrocious in The Giver, which was worse because he was the main face of the entire film. He was also at the center of a whitewashing controversy after being cast in Gods of Egypt, until people were assuaged by how bad he was. If he couldn't act opposite actual people, imagine how he does talking to a green screen. Basically, he's a dull actor with zero personality, but maybe that'll change when he's playing Grayson, one of the most important characters in DC Comics history.

Obviously I'm skeptical, but it's tough to bet against Greg Berlanti at this point, isn't it? Clearly he sees something in Thwaites that I don't, and I hope he's right. I want this show to kick ass.

Others cast in Titans include Teagan Croft as Raven and Anna Diop as Starfire. [Deadline]
