Fox's 'X-Force' Film Gets Moving With Drew Goddard As Writer And Director

20th Century Fox finally has their X-Force movie ready to go, after we first learned about it a few years ago. Originally Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, he kinda fell off the map afterwards) was attached to the militaristic X-men spinoff, and then last year it was Joe Carnahan (The Grey) on board to write the script. But now Deadline reports it will be The Martian and Daredevil's Drew Goddard who direct and pen the screenplay.

Goddard, whose credits also include script work on Deadpool 2, will take charge of the mutant team-up that will include Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, Josh Brolin's Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino. In the comics, X-Force began when Cable, newly-returned from the future, took a more aggressive stance than Professor Charles Xavier. He recruited the New Mutants to join him in taking the fight to mutantkind's enemies. Later versions of the team would include characters such as Psylocke (Olivia Munn played her in X-Men: Apocalypse), Archangel (Ben Hardy in the same film), and Colossus (who appeared in Deadpool and most of Bryan Singer's X-flicks). I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of them come back to be part of the movie, along with some characters we might not expect.

My favorite versions of the team don't have Deadpool anywhere them, but I'll just have to deal.

Even though X-Men: Apocalypse was a critical and box office disappointment, Fox is going full steam ahead. They also have a New Mutants film in the works and X-Men: Dark Phoenix arriving next year.
