New Trailer For Hirokazu Koreeda's First Crime Thriller, 'The Third Murder'

You all know Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda is one of my favorites. I've long since fallen in love with his gentle brand of family drama, seen in such excellent movies as After the Storm, Our Little Sister, Like Father Like Son, and I Wish. Koreeda's going off the beaten path for his next film, The Third Murder, a legal thriller set to debut at Venice and TIFF.

After a teaser dropped a couple months ago we now have the full trailer, and it's definitely unlike anything we've seen from Koreeda before. Like Father Like Son's Masaharu Fukuyama plays a lawyer who begins to believe his client didn't commit the murder he's been charged with and admits to doing. Koji Yakusho (13 Assassins) and Suze Hirose (Our Little Sister) co-star.

The Third Murder has a September release date in Japan, but we tend to get Koreeda's films months later over here. However, Koreeda's movies tend to hit some of the local festivals here in DC and VA, so I'm hoping it plays at either VFF or Middleburg.
