Gwendoline Christie Gets Fired Up In New Trailer For 'Top Of The Lake: China Girl'

You didn't hear a lot of people buzzing about Jane Campion's Top of the Lake a couple of years ago. It didn't have people screaming on their couches like Game of Thrones, or tearing their brains out like. It was just quietly one of the best shows on TV, and fortunately SundanceTV brought it back for a second season with Top of the Lake: China Girl.

It doesn't look like Campion has missed a beat, nor has star Elisabeth Moss in this latest trailer. She's back as troubled detective Robin, who must set aside her personal demons to solve another murder case in her small New Zealand town. As if there wasn't enough reason to be excited, Gwendoline Christie and Nicole Kidman have joined an already strong cast, and it looks like their performances will be ferocious  Here's the synopsis:

“Top of the Lake: China Girl” is a crime mystery story that finds Detective Robin Griffin, recently returned to Sydney and trying to rebuild her life. When the body of an Asian girl washes up on Bondi Beach, there appears little hope of finding the killer, until Robin realizes that “China Girl” didn’t die alone. Robin’s search to discover “China Girl’s” identity takes her into the city’s criminal underbelly and closer than she could have imagined to the secrets of her own heart.

Top of the Lake: China Girl hits SundanceTV on September 10th.
