Tom Cruise Turns Drug Smuggler In First Trailer For 'American Made'

You're going to be seeing a lot more of Tom Cruise in the next few months.  Not only does he have The Mummy, which is part of Universal's Dark Universe franchise, but we're already getting the trailer for his next film, American Made, which sees him reteaming with Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman. Man, that Liman guy gets around. Didn't he JUST do The Wall?

Formerly titled Mena, the film stars Cruise as real-life TWA pilot Barry Seal, who is recruited by the CIA to help them stop the spread of communism in Central America. His work would get him deeply involved with the Medellin drug cartel, which became a national embarrassment (one of many it would turn out) during the Reagan Administration.  Lola Kirke, Sarah Wright, Jesse Plemons, Jayma Mays, Caleb Landry Jones, and Domhnall Gleeson co-star.

American Made opens September 22nd.
