If you've yet to hear the name Jacob Latimore, expect that to change very soon. The singer/actor has been making a lot of movies on the big screen ever since his breakthrough role in Black Nativity. He recently appeared alongside an all-star cast in Collateral Beauty, and has Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit Riots movie coming up. But his most acclaimed performance came at last year's Sundance Film Festival with Sleight, which looks like it should be a Netflix Marvel movie in the way it combines street drama with super powers.
Directed by J.D. Dillard with Dule Hill, Seychelle Gabriel, Storm Reid, and Cameron Esposito co-starring, the film finds Latimore as a street magician and drug dealer trying to care for his young sister. However when he finds trouble, he must use his street smarts and magical gifts to rescue her from danger.
Sleight is hitting theaters on April 7th. Check out the trailer below.
