Remember how secretive everything surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens was? It was more than just J.J. Abrams and his "mystery box", but a concerted effort by Lucasfilm to keep the film's story entirely under wraps, knowing audiences would turn out for it no matter what. Clearly the thinking is very different for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, because we are seeing as much of the movie as possible before it opens in a few weeks. I find Lucasfilm's lack of faith quite disturbing.
The first clip from 'Rogue One' is pure Star Wars. In it we see rebels Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) in a battle against a squad of stormtroopers who couldn't hit the broad side of an Imperial Starship. Erso gets a chance to kick some ass (I still think she'll become a Jedi in the future) until she nearly blows away her robot companion K-2SO voiced by Alan Tudyk.
'Rogue One' opens December 16th.
