Lee Daniels' Richard Pryor Biopic Back On At Weinstein, Jay-Z To Produce

Oh, so that Richard Pryor biopic is finally going to happen now? We'll see about that, because the film has been in the works for years with Lee Daniels attached for the majority of it. But a few months ago he dropped out and the whole thing fell apart despite Mike Epps set to play Pryor, Oprah Winfrey as his grandmother, Kate Hudson as his wife, Tracy Morgan as Redd Foxx, and Eddie Murphy as his father.

Well now Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company have announced the film, titled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said, is back on with Daniels directing and Jay-Z producing. Bill Condon's screenplay is still in effect but what's unclear is which cast members are still on board.

If the talent remains there should be no problem hitting the early 2017 start date, but don't be surprised if this project takes awhile. It was Daniels' schedule that delayed the film before, and he's just as busy now.
