Only weeks removed from Woody Allen's latest theatrical dud, Cafe Society, it's really hard to get excited about his first foray into serialized television with Crisis in Six Scenes. Nevertheless, Amazon Studios has high hopes for the six episode series, even though it just looks like another Allen movie cut into half-hour segments.
Allen wrote, directed, and stars in the series which centers on a suburban family who experience the turbulent social change of the '60s when a guest arrives and turns their household upside down. Miley Cyrus, Elaine May, John Magaro, David Harbour, Joy Behar, and Rachel Brosnahan make up the cast. If you dig Allen's stuff then this probably up your alley. For me it's a hard pass.
Crisis in Six Scenes hits Amazon on September 30th. Check out the new trailer below.
