Now that Legendary and Universal have set a concrete date for Pacific Rim 2, it's time to find another headliner to join previously-cast star John Boyega. It seems one may have been found as THR reports Scott Eastwood is in talks for a role.
Details on the film are few but it takes place some years after the kaiju vs. jaeger battles of the prior film, with Boyega playing the son of Idris Elba's character. Steven S. DeKnight has picked up the directing reins from Guillermo Del Toro, who led the first movie to a modest $411M worldwide, although expectations were much higher. That led to questions if the follow-up would even happen, and for a while it didn't appear likely.
Eastwood will be seen next in Suicide Squad and is part of Vin Diesel's Fast 8 cast so he's really piling on the blockbuster work these days. Too bad he can't get his old man to do some drifting in Pacific Rim 2 because that would be awesome. Look for the film to arrive on February 23rd 2018.
