Oprah Winfrey Rejoins Ava DuVernay For 'A Wrinkle In Time'

The combination of Oprah Winfrey and director Ava DuVernay has been pretty successful thus far, with the two teaming up on Selma and the TV series Queen Sugar which debuts on the mogul's OWN network. Now they've got another collaboration in the works, and this one will take them beyond time and space.

Winfrey is the first to join the cast of DuVernay's adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time, based on the first of Madeleine L’Engle's classic four-book "Time Quartet" series.  She'll be taking on the role of Mrs. Which in the sci-fi/fantasy tale about a two siblings who go on an interdimensional journey to find their missing father, who had been experimenting with time travel. Mrs. Which is one of three angelic figures who have ability to travel across long stretches of time.

DuVernay will be working off a screenplay by Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee, and the film is expected to be a huge one for Disney who are undoubtedly smelling "franchise". [Variety]
