'Justice League' Logo, Plot Details, and Batmobile Revealed; Ben Affleck Talks Solo Batman Film

Last week a select group of journalists were invited to the London set of Zack Snyder's Justice League, and they began teasing something huge would arrive this morning. Turns out it was all of them posting their various set visit videos, which you can check out elsewhere but they're all pretty much the same. The general consensus seems to be that Snyder, Geoff Johns, and Warner Bros. are making a film much lighter in tone, and with considerably more heart than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Man of Steel had. Good news, right? Sure, but let's see what those journos say when things get closer to release.

Warner Bros. also took time to drop the first official Justice League logo, and to reveal this shot of Bruce Wayne's new-look Batmobile.

Presumably that's what Ben Affleck will be coasting through Gotham in when he stars in the solo Batman film he'll also be directing. In regards to that, Affleck revealed (via Joblo) that the screenplay is still being worked on, but it will definitely be more of a detective movie.

“I think they have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my—my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out....

"The whole detective aspect of Batman is more present in this story than in the last one and would probably be expanded upon further in a Batman movie that I would direct. All Batman movies at their heart are detective stories they feel a little bit like noir movies in a way.. somehow feels like THE MALTESE FALCON, at their heart detective stories. And the detective story here is the how do I find these people and bring them together aspect..."

So a couple of things we do know about the Justice League plot. The villain will indeed be Steppenwolf, as was teased in 'Batman v Superman' and rumored later on. And with him will come the powerful motherboxes, parademons, and other cosmic elements that will be too much for Batman to handle alone. Willem Dafoe will play an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko, a friend and advisor to Jason Momoa's Aquaman. And despite some previous reports, Amber Heard is indeed still on board to play Mera, Aquaman's love interest.

Justice League arrives on November 17th 2017, so that's still a pretty long ways off. Here's the official synopsis, which suggests the story will mostly be Batman and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) marshalling their superheroic forces.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
