'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' Plot Synopsis Teases Old Foes And New Allies

With San Diego Comic-Con only a month away there probably isn't going to be a ton of Marvel news for a while. One thing we do know is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be featured heavily there, probably with some first-look footage. Details on the plot remain a mystery, though, but that begins to get cleared up as the official synopsis has been released.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

We already knew the question of Star-Lord's parentage would be a major part of the story, but it's apparently going to be the crux of the entire film. Kurt Russell, who joined the cast a few months ago, has been rumored to be playing that mysterious role. So what about these "old foes" and "new allies"? Could it be Benicio Del Toro's The Collector? Or someone less interesting like Michael Rooker's Yondu? And who are these fan-favorite characters from the classic comics? Could it be the original Guardians of the Galaxy from the 31st century will be making an appearance?

All I've said from the beginning is that they need to introduce Major Victory. Do that and I'll be a happy Marvel-ite.  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5th 2017, directed by James Gunn with Pom Klementieff and Elizabeth Debicki among the new additions.
