There wasn't a ton of clamor for a sequel to Jack Reacher, the action flick that put Tom Cruise at the head of his second franchise with writer/director pal, Christopher McQuarrie. It performed reasonably well, earning just over $200M overall, but for a while there was some question whether that was enough for more. The best things about it were the wildly insane villain played by Werner Herzog (!?!?) and the camera angles designed to make the fun-sized Cruise seem imposing. In the end we are going to get Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and the first images from the film have arrived.
People has the new photos featuring Cruise and new addition, Cobie Smulders. With McQuarrie out of the picture (he's a little busy on the next Mission: Impossible flick) Ed Zwick, who worked with Cruise on The Last Samurai, has taken over as director. Not much is known about the plot and these photos don't reveal much. We see Cruise and Smulders hanging out in New Orleans, and another shot of Cruise in handcuffs after what looks like a scuffle. Something tells me those cops aren't going to believe a word Reacher has to say.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back opens October 21st, and to be perfectly honest I forgot it was so soon.
