Tom Cruise is now 53 years old (!!!), and isn't slowing down one bit. While he's still considered one of our greatest actors, how far does his bankability really go? The Mission: Impossible movies are where his bread is buttered right now, with the franchise earning nearly $3B worldwide. But let's not forget Cruise has had a bunch of middling performers in-between, such as Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow (I think both of those movies are awesome, but that's me), and yes, Jack Reacher. In the case of the latter, there was some debate whether its $218M haul was worthy of a sequel, but this is Tom Cruise we're talking about here. If he wants it done, he's going to get it.
After a couple of photos and some teaser footage emerged a few days ago, the first trailer from Jack Reacher: Never Go Back has arrived. The film is based on the book series by author Lee Child, and finds Cruise returning as ex-military badass Jack Reacher, who sets out to clear the name of Army Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders), who has been framed for espionage. The film reunites Cruise with The Last Samurai director Ed Zwick, and co-stars Aldis Hodge, Patrick Heusinger, Danika Yarosh, Robert Knepper, and Holt McCallany.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back opens October 21st.
