Matthias Schoenaerts and director Michael Roskam first captured attention with the Oscar-nominated 2011 film, Bullhead. They've kept that partnership going ever since, although their last collaboration, The Drop, was pretty forgettable despite an amazing cast. But they're going to keep on working together, and now they've found their next project, titled The Racer And The Jailbird.
Roskam will direct Schoenaerts and co-star Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue is the Warmest Color) in the film, which he co-wrote with Thomas Bidegain and Noe Debre. Set against the backdrop the racing world, the story centers on the dangerous love affair between a gangster (Schoenaerts) and a wealthy race car driver (Exarchopoulos).
Given the international flavor of the cast and director, expect this one to be a hot seller at Cannes later this month. [ScreenDaily]
