'Vikings' Star Katheryn Winnick Joins 'The Dark Tower' Cast

While her name has recently popped up in regards to the Captain Marvel role as part of the MCU, Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has already decided on something even bigger. Variety reports she is now part of The Dark Tower cast alongside Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey as Randall Flagg, Abbey Lee as Tirana, Jackie Earle Haley as Sayre, Tom Taylor as young Jake Chambers, and Fran Kranz as Pimli.

Winnick's role is being kept under wraps for now, but we  can probably expect that to change soon now that director Nikolaj Arcel has begun shooting. In an effort to streamline Stephen King's massive epic, a number of characters from later in the series are appearing in the film, making it more difficult to judge who Winnick will be playing.  There's also the issue of the companion TV series that Sony wants to get going, assuming the film is a hit.

The Dark Tower hits theaters on February 17th 2017.
