Has Jason Reitman had a good movie since Young Adult? While it's debatable, of course, most would argue diminishing returns ever since. That film starred Charlize Theron in one of her finest performances, working off a script by Diablo Cody who has only really found success working with Reitman. So while two of thirds of the trio have been on a downswing, the promise of a reunion is hugely promising.
Theron, Reitman, and Cody are reteaming on an untitled film about motherhood....and that's all Deadline seems to know about it. Cody will be writing the screenplay with Reitman directing, of course. They broke out together with Juno back in 2007, and then didn't work together again until 2011's Young Adult with Theron starring. Cody last wrote Ricki and the Flash, a film which failed to connect despite Meryl Streep in the lead role. She also made her directorial debut with Paradise, another film nobody seemed to care much about. Reitman's most recent efforts, Labor Day and Men, Women & Children, didn't do much critically or financially.
It's way too early to know about a start date, but let's hope more details arrive sooner rather than later.
