Remember those rumors a few years ago that Zack Snyder was developing a Star Wars spinoff heavily influenced by Akura Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai? Well, that never happened, and some say it was never going to, but Snyder is certainly a big fan of Kurosawa's masterpiece; enough that his Justice League will be taking some cues from it. He tells Yahoo...
“I’m getting ready to start ‘Justice League’ on the 11th of April, so in like two weeks we start shooting, and it’s an intense, awesome, and gigantic undertaking because Bruce [Wayne] is having to go out and sort of ‘Seven Samurai’ the Justice League together, which is fun...It’s slightly monumental, and at the same time they’re starting to grapple with this coming threat.”
That means Batman will be pulling together a team of DC's greatest heroes to battle a coming threat, teased during 'Batman v Superman'. There are some other developments that throw into question who will be part of the Justice League, but you'll have to see the film yourself to find out what those are. What we do know is that Jason Momoa has been cast as Aquaman, Ezra Miller is The Flash, Ray Fisher is Cyborg, Amber Heard as Mera, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon. Amy Adams has also confirmed her return as Lois Lane, while it's still up in the air whether Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor could have a role.
So despite the critical bashing 'Batman v Superman' is taking, Snyder is pushing ahead on what should be the biggest DCU film ever. Justice League part one opens November 10th 2017. with part two coming in 2019.
