The quick demise of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has been expected by some since the end of the first season, and yet the series is due to return next week for its third midseason premiere. Ratings took a tumble after the first season, but ever since the show has been on pretty stable ground and has hit a creative groove, which may be why Agent Coulson and his team are sticking around a while longer.
ABC has renewed Agents of SHIELD for a fourth season beginning later this year and stretching into 2017. No plot details were made available, obviously, not with season three set to return on March 8th. In that episode, titled "Bouncing Back", the team must deal with the ramifications of the finale, and they'll also be encountering some new Inhumans. Here's the synopsis:
"In the aftermath of his trip to Maveth, Coulson is more determined than ever to get to Gideon Malick and put an end to Hydra once and for all. Meanwhile, Daisy and the team encounter more Inhumans who have powers like they’ve never seen before, but will they be friends or enemies of S.H.I.E.L.D.?""
Will all of the team survive to make it to a fourth season? Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesday nights at 8pm on ABC.
