There have been a couple of horror movies released already this year, and strangely enough they haven't performed the way they usually do during the early season. It's almost as if genre fans are waiting for one specific film to arrive, and that is Robert Eggers' spooky colonial horror, The Witch, a favorite from out of last year's Sundance Film Festival, which is where I saw it for the first time.
A new trailer for the film has been released and it focuses on a very important scene featuring an ominous game of peek-a-boo. Anya Taylor-Joy plays the eldest daughter of a New England family banished from their community to the outskirts of a nearby forest, where they begin to experience a series of terrifying events.
The Witch is set to haunt theaters on February 19th. Check out the trailer followed by another key clip.
