So let's say you're the producers behind Collateral Beauty and the studio, Warner Bros., has just slotted your movie against Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16th, which promises to suck up all the box office that weekend. What do you do? Load up your film with A-listers, that's what, and they've added another one in Kate Winslet.
Winslet joins Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Michael Peña and Naomie Harris, a tremendous ensemble no matter how it's sliced. The David Frankel-directed film from screenwriter Allan Loeb centers on a New York ad exec whose life spirals after he suffers a terrible tragedy. To turn his life around he takes an unconventional approach that works out in a way nobody could have expected.
Is the addition of Winslet enough to combat the might of Star Wars? Honestly, it doesn't really have to, and considering the wealth of talent involved this is going to be a major film no matter what.
