Alexander Payne To Direct Road Trip Movie 'My Saga'

While road trip movies are a dime a dozen, nobody does them with the same thoughtfulness as Alexander Payne. The Sideways and Nebraska director is set to embark on another cinematic journey with My Saga, based on the hard-hitting writing of Norwegian author, Karl Ove Knausgard.

Knausgard has been a sensation since his 6-volume autobiography, My Struggle, which causes a media frenzy for their warts-and-all look at the author's private life and darkest thoughts. My Saga is based on his travel writings for the New York Times, in which he makes a comic journey across the northern U.S. retracing the Vikings' epic trek.

Next up for Payne is the sci-fi comedy, Downsizing, starring Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon. That shoots later this year, and presumably Payne will get moving on My Saga once that's done. [Thompson on Hollywood via ThePlaylist]
