While the last few years have seen an explosion of superhero movies and studio blockbusters, there has also been an increase in the number of R-rated comedies, or at least successful ones. And one that performed better than most was Neighbors, perhaps because it saw pretty boy Zac Efron branching out into raunchy territory against America's favorite schlub, Seth Rogen. And after that film banked more than $270M the sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, looks to up the ante.
Rogen, Efron, and secret weapon Rose Byrne are back, along with new additions Chloe Moretz, Selena Gomez, Kiersey Clemons (Dope), and more, the follow-up finds the guys engaged in a war for neighborhood superiority against raucous sorority sisters. So this time we see Efron's character swooping as the hero to save his old nemesis, but it looks like these girls may be too much even for him to handle. Also returning are co-stars Ike Barinholtz and Carla Gallo, who appear to have a much larger role this time around.
Once again directed by Nicholas Stoller, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising opens May 20th.
