Wait, doesn't everybody love Patrick Stewart and all of his cool pictures hanging out with Ian McKellen? He's Professor Charles Xavier and Jean-Luc Picard, why would we want to see him as a violent neo-Nazi? Well, because it sounds pretty amazing, that's why, and reports out of Cannes were glowing for his performance in Green Room, the follow-up film from Blue Ruin director, Jeremy Saulnier.
A trailer for the film has been released and it looks incredibly intense and Stewart in a menacing mode we rarely get to see. He plays the leader of a group of skinheads who commit a murder that is witnessed by the members of a rock band, and of course no witnesses can be left alive. Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, and Blue Ruin's Macon Blair make up the rest of the cast.
The film opens in limited released on April 1st, then goes wide on April 15th. I'll be trying to check it out at Sundance next week so look out for a review.
