Thomas Jane is a pretty fun actor, and in the right roles he can be a pretty good one. I loved him as the Punisher and enjoyed every stupid episode of HBO's Hung. But more often than not when I see Jane's name on the cast sheet it means a crappy film is about to roll. Sadly, that also appears to be the case for Standoff, a bland-looking action movie which co-stars another personal favorite, Laurence Fishburne. How'd that happen?
The directorial debut of Adam Alleca (writer of The Last House on the Left) stars Jane as a troubled veteran who gets a chance at redemption by saving a 12-year-old girl (Ella Ballentine) from an assassin played by Fishburne. How's he going to do it when he's only got one bullet left in the chamber of his shotgun? You'll have to watch to find out.
Or not. Standoff premieres exclusively on DirecTV beginning tomorrow, then hits theaters and VOD on February 12th. Go here for more information on the film and how you can see it!
