Just as Warner Bros. has been able to gel their TV superhero universes with The Flash, Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the hope is to do something similar on the big screen. To that end we're seeing the bonds tighten between this March's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and the upcoming array of titles which includes a solo Aquaman movie and Justice League.
Those last two titles just got a little bit closer as Amber Heard is set to play Aquaman's love interest, Mera, in the superhero's solo film. But first she's going to appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League alongside Jason Momoa. The rumors of Mera's inclusion in Justice League have been around since last fall, but this serves as some kind of confirmation. It also suggests that Aquaman is going to play a major part in the team-up film and not just be relegated to the background. Mera is more than just Aquaman's lover, she's his eventual wife and Queen of Atlantis.
Justice League begins shooting this April with part one set to open on November 10th 2017, followed by Aquaman on July 27th 2018. The second half of Justice League hits June 14th 2019. [THR]
