If you were one of the millions who watched the recent Captain America: Civil War trailer then you probably noticed that it picks up where Ant-Man left off. The tiny Avenger's post-credit scene had Captain America and Falcon questioning The Winter Soldier. Guess all of those cold leads Falcon was following weren't so cold, after all.
But why link these specific movies together in the first place? A new featurette included in the newly-released Ant-Man blu-ray goes through the thinking behind that decision. We know Ant-Man will be part of 'Civil War', but co-director Anthony Russo recently stated (via CBM) that he's basically being brought in as comic relief.
"There are certain characters that come into the story a little later who don't have the same baggage that the Avengers have in terms of what's going on in the film. So they don't have as much darkness to deal with in the film, so they can be a little lighter and more fun. I think the movie has a healthy balance between very serious, interesting and very surprising storytelling, and sort of light, fun and humor.”
