'Game of Thrones' Faces the Unknown In First Season 6 Teaser

Despite their best efforts, nobody behind HBO's Game of Thrones did a very good job of convincing anyone that a certain fan favorite character was really, truly dead. And his return was seemingly confirmed when Jon Snow was featured on the recent teaser poster. Well there's more of the bastard Stark in the first teaser trailer for season six, plus the portentious return of a character who has been gone a while.

So there's no new footage here, merely flashbacks to some of the show's most grisly moments. All of this is being used to set up something new and unforseen as the Three-Eyed Raven (voiced by Max Von Sydow) claims the past has already been written, "the ink is dry", only to be countered by the voice of the long-missing Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) who says "They have no idea what's going to happen".

He's right. Game of Thrones has entered uncharted territory beyond the scope of George R.R. Martin's books.  Look for the series' return to HBO next April.
