Even though his iconic Welcome to the Dollhouse character Dawn Wiener supposedly died in the follow-up, Palindromes, Todd Solondz is bringing her back anyway. Wiener-Dog was revealed as part of Sundance's rather amazing slate of films yesterday, and now we have the first look at Greta Gerwig in the role.
Featuring a terrific ensemble that includes Brie Larson, Julie Delpy, Zosia Mamet, Kieran Culkin, Danny DeVito, Ellen Burstyn, and Tracy Letts, the film "tells several stories featuring people who find their life inspired or changed by one particular dachshund, who seems to be spreading comfort and joy."
Other 'Dollhouse' characters will be turning up, as well, but it's tough to get beyond Gerwig as Dawn Wiener. Let's just say there's a world of difference between Gerwig and Heather Matarazzo, and just putting on a dorky t-shirt and lame glasses isn't going to change that.
