There was a major WTF moment yesterday when reports from Deadline claimed that Mariah Carey would be voicing Commissioner Gordon in the Lego Batman movie. Considering the cast assembled already it...well, it was still incredibly strange but kind of inspired in a way. Nobody ever said anything about Gordon always being a dude, right? Turns out the story wasn't exactly accurate, but Carey does have a role in the film that is still pretty cool.
According to THR's Borys Kit, Carey will actually be voicing the Mayor of Gotham City. While not as prominent a role it perhaps provides more of an opportunity to sing, assuming the script calls for it. She joins Will Arnett reprising his role as Batman, Michael Cera as his sidekick Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker.
Directed by Chris McKay with Phil Lord and Chris Miller producing, the Lego Batman movie opens May 26th 2017.
