High-Wire Trailer for Robert Zemeckis' 'The Walk' Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt

When Robert Zemeckis' The Walk hits theaters later this year, it won't be the first time we've seen Philippe Petit's amazing 1974 tightrope walk across the World Trade Center towers. The last time was in the acclaimed documentary, Man on Wire, directed by James Marsh and winner of an Academy Award in 2008. But Zemeckis' film is more of a special effects-heavy IMAX spectacle, which we're getting another look at in the latest trailer.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (and his questionable French accent) as Petit, Ben Kingsley as his mentor, plus co-stars Charlotte Le Bon, James Badge Dale, and Ben Schwartz, the film chronicles their daring plan to make Petit's incredible stunt a reality. There are some truly mesmerizing shots here, and this film seems to follow the same path as the documentary by presenting Petit's story as a crime thriller. Smart idea.

The Walk opens on October 2nd.
