Insane First Trailer for 'Pawn Shop Chronicles' with Paul Walker, Brendan Fraser, and more

There was a time when Wayne Kramer looked like a director on the rise. He had just scored a surprising indie hit with the gambling comedy The Cooler ( a personal favorite), but he's floundered ever since. The Paul Walker-led thriller Running Scared was entertaining but nobody turned out to see it, and other than the lame illegal immigrant drama Crossing Over, Kramer has been practically invisible. He made a little noise last year when he was booted from Sly Stallone's Bullet to the Head, which I would say was a blessing in disguise if only Kramer hadn't gone from that to his latest film, Pawn Shop Chronicles.

Looking like the redneck spawn of Smokin' Aces and Snatch, the trailer for Pawn Shop Chronicles features a dynamic cast in ugly beards, dirty tees, and mangled teeth. Lukas Haas, Brendan Fraser, Norman Reedus, Vincent D'Onofrio, Matt Dillon, Elijah Wood, Thomas Jane, Rachel Lefevre, Ashlee Simpon (!!!), and Chi McBride pad their bank accounts as a cast of kooky drug dealers, killers, Elvis impersonators, and killer clowns attracted to a small town pawn shop and the case of a missing wedding ring. This could be a lot of fun, or an utter disaster. Hard to tell which but I'm at least interested in seeing how Kramer makes this work.

Pawn Shop Chronicles opens on July 12th.
