New trailer for 'Byzantium' with Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan

It's been twenty years since Neil Jordan's Interview with the Vampire, a film so influential to the way vampires are perceived that we still associate the director with the genre, even though he hasn't done anything like it since. His latest film, Byzantium, takes him into the world of vampires once again, and judging by the newly-released trailer it doesn't look as if he's lost a step.

While not as star-studded as 'Interview', Byzantium still has an impressive cast with Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as a mother/daughter pair of vampires. They've been surviving by keeping a low profile, but the brotherhood of vampires is on their trail, and Ronan's relationship with a human (Caleb Landry Jones) threatens to expose them. There are a ton of sensual, powerful images here, and despite the literal waterfalls of blood it's clear this is meant to be a vampire character study rather than a horror.

Co-starring Sam Riley, Tom Hollander, Jonny Lee Miller, and Daniel Mays, Byzantium opens on June 28th.
