New posters for 'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'The Hangover Part III', and 'The Lone Ranger'

The summer movie season arrives earlier and earlier each year, until at some point we're going to realize it never truly ends. One could say it officially began with the arrival of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, but a more accurate time frame will be next month when we can count on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness landing in theaters. A newly released poster is a slightly different version than the one we saw previously, with Benedict Cumberbatch's villain against the backdrop of a burning London. We don't know much about the plot, no shocker there, but expect to see Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and the rest of the Starship Enterprise crew facing their toughest foe yet. Star Trek Into Darkness opens on May 17th.

A new trailer for The Hangover Part III hits the web on Thursday, which explains the sudden deluge of one-sheets for the Todd Phillips comedy. The latest again features Ken Jeong as Mr. Chow, who is expected to play a much bigger role this time. So if you were annoyed by him before, like I certainly was, then this is yet another cause for concern. Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is the focus of the story this time as he deals with the death of his father, ends up in a mental ward, and buys a giraffe. What's with Alan and all the animals? Starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha, The Hangover Part III takes its last drink on May 24th.

On the strength of the Pirates of the Caribbean team of Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Disney has given The Lone Ranger the prime July 3rd weekend. Two new character posters have been issued featuring the dirty mugs of Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the titular gunslinging hero, who will mount their horses and kick up some dust in the quest for justice against....somebody ornery. Probably a cattle rustler.
